Compared with the global new orders of 252 vessels totaling 5,190,856CGT in March 2024, the number decreased by 180 vessels year-on-year and the revised gross tonnage decreased by 64.55% year-on-year.
In terms of ship types, there are 6 bulk carriers, totaling 858,000 DWT; 11 tankers, totaling 203,520 DWT; 19 chemical tankers, totaling 506,500 DWT; 9 container ships, totaling 161,938 TEUs; 6 liquefied gas carriers, totaling 255,000 cubic meters; 15 other ship types, totaling 200,948CGT; and 6 offshore vessels, totaling 88,758CGT.
From the point of view of the order type, bulk carriers signed four new Cape of Good Hope-type bulk carriers, two handysize bulk carriers; tankers signed two new VLCCs and nine Suezmax oil tankers; container ships signed six new super-Panamax containerships, three handysize containerships.

From the perspective of major ship types, the bulk carrier hand-held order book was 1,316 ships, totaling 106,944,728 DWT; tanker hand-held order book was 1,459 ships, totaling 1,029,13762 DWT; and container ship hand-held order book was 829 ships, totaling 8,922,944 TEU.

Global shipyards delivered 206 new vessels in March 2025, totaling 8,244,652 dwt. Compared with February 2025, when 176 new vessels totaling 4,833,977 dwt were delivered to order globally, the number of orders rose 17.05% year-on-year, while the number of dwt rose 70.56%. From January to March 2025, global shipyards delivered a total of 687 new vessels, totaling 23,934,567 dwt.
