300 shipments! Zhejiang Ningbo Zhoushan Port receives and discharges a record high of 400,000 tons of 'giant' mining vessels
On January 29, Ningbo Zhoushan Port welcomed the first 400,000-ton ore ship 'Mingzhuo' in the New Year of the Rabbit. After successfully completing the full unloading operation of 390,000 tons of iron ore, the huge ship slowly left berth No. 1 of Rulang Lake Ore Transshipment Terminal. So far, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has received and discharged the world's largest 400,000-ton ore ship 300 times in a calendar year.
Ningbo Zhoushan Port is the port with the most berths for 400,000 tons ore vessels in China. As an important part of the ore transportation system of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, the Rulanghu Ore Transshipment Terminal is able to dock 400,000 tons of ore vessels on a regular basis, and is currently the largest offshore iron ore transshipment base in China and the largest single bonded blended ore terminal in China.
Since September 23, 2016, the first 400,000 tons of ore vessels, the terminal gave full play to the advantages of deep-water berths, opened the 'era of giant ships', 400,000 tons of ore vessels receiving and unloading the number of steadily increased. 3 years later, on November 7, 2019, the terminal ushered in the 100th 400,000 tons of ore vessels. Then, on June 25, 2021, less than two years later, the terminal welcomed the 200th 400,000-ton ore vessel.
Today, the terminal has received and discharged 400,000 tons of ore vessels 300 times, achieving a new leap and further demonstrating the role of Ningbo Zhoushan Port as the hub of China's important bulk commodity transshipment base.
Behind the new leap is the continuous improvement of the efficiency of large vessel operations. Ratanghu Ore Transshipment Terminal is committed to improving the efficiency of ship unloading at the terminal, scientifically formulating the production process, continuously optimizing the production process, and innovating the 'back' cleaning method, which has greatly improved the rate of ore unloading at the terminal, from initially taking more than 70 hours to fully unload 400,000 tons of ore vessels, to less than 50 hours today, and the average net operating time of 400,000 tons of ore vessels The average net operating time of 400,000-ton ore vessels has been further compressed, and the fastest record for full unloading of 400,000-ton ore vessels was refreshed to 37.08 hours in 2022.
Behind the new leap is the continuous promotion of the terminal capacity construction. New ship unloaders and reclaimers have arrived one after another since the opening of the port, greatly improving the capacity of ore receiving and unloading and shipping operations, while the continuous construction of the 110-meter extension of the ship unloading berth has helped it to become the first terminal in China with the capacity to berth two 400,000-ton ore vessels at the same time.
