The newly unveiled company will focus on the functional positioning of 'six platforms', such as the liaison and communication platform in foreign countries, the cross-border trade logistics e-commerce platform, the investment attraction platform, and the cultural tourism exchange platform, and integrate the elements of 'port+logistics+finance+trade+shipping' to help Shandong port accelerate the transformation and upgrading from the traditional loading and unloading port to the hub port, trade port, and financial port, and promote the progressive upgrading from the industrial chain to the industrial ecosystem.
At the scene, Shandong Port Qingdao Port, Yantai Port, Logistics Group, Trade Group and Overseas Development Group made business promotion; Shandong Port and Taiping Shipping (Private) Co., Ltd. signed agreements with Singapore Weili International Group, Shandong Weiqiao Venture Group Co., Ltd., Logistics Group and Cargill Investment (China) Co., Ltd., Trade Group and Trafigura Investment (China) Co., Ltd., Overseas Development Group and Maersk Terminal Management (Singapore) Co., Ltd.
Huo Gaoyuan, secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of Shandong Port, said in his speech that Singapore is the most important financial, trade, shipping and regional shipping center in Asia and an important partner of the 'the Belt and Road' initiative. The first overseas regional company will be set up in Shandong Port, which will promote trade circulation in all aspects and speed up the construction of an international shipping hub in Northeast Asia.
In his speech, Lee Yi-hsien, Chairman of Singapore's 'China for Trade', said that he expected the two ports to give full play to their respective advantages, unite strong and powerful, achieve mutual benefit and win-win development, and make positive contributions to the smooth and stable supply chain of the global industrial chain.
It is reported that since its establishment, Shandong Port has reached more than 100 countries and regions around the world through 327 container routes and 82 sea-railway intermodal trains, and has concluded 40 friendly ports. It has built a smooth and efficient logistics network and become an important hub of international trade.
At the same time, in terms of overseas expansion, there are 11 overseas projects operated by Shandong Port, which are distributed in the three continents of Europe, Asia and Africa. Through the construction of international port operation and management service platform, logistics resource integration platform, and industrial chain investment and financing platform, in-depth exchanges and cooperation are realized.
Statistics show that in 2022, the cargo throughput of Shandong port will exceed 1.6 billion tons and the container volume will exceed 37 million TEUs, ranking first and third in the world respectively.
