BYD's another car ro-ro transporter starts construction, with 9200 car parking spaces
According to the news of blogger 'Xiaodi Express', BYD's 9,200-car car ro-ro transport vessel held a groundbreaking ceremony in Jiangsu on 29th. This newly-built ship will help BYD's rapid expansion of overseas markets, and is also the first shipment of BYD's marine box-type battery packs.
In the next two years, BYD will have seven ro-ro vessels in operation, and BYD's energy storage battery technology and axle-belt generator system will also be applied on board.
At the beginning of this month, BYD Pathfinder 1 ro-ro transport ship stopped at the port of Zeebrugge, Belgium, after the end of the first voyage in Europe, opened the return voyage, which means that BYD's 'sea-going fleet' has successfully completed its maiden voyage.
According to IT home report earlier this year, on 10-15 January, BYD Pathfinder No. 1 auto transport ro-ro ship held the delivery and maiden voyage ceremonies in Yantai port of Shandong and Xiaomo international logistics port of Shenzhen-Shantou, respectively, and the ship carried 4,060 new-energy automobiles.
In 2022, according to Caixin, BYD affiliates intend to order eight ro-ro vessels capable of carrying 7,700 vehicles at a shipyard in Yantai, Shandong, at a total cost of nearly RMB 5 billion. The total cost is nearly RMB 5 billion. 6 of the ships are basically confirmed to be built, and the other 2 are option orders.
BYD 7000 car dual-fuel PCTC ship is the PCTC series ship 'green low-carbon upgraded version 2.0' under construction by Guangzhou Shipbuilding International, the ship has an overall length of 199.9 metres, a beam of 38 metres, a design draught of 9 metres, a design speed of 18.5 knots (IT home note: about 34.262km/h), and adopts the dual-fuel natural gas ( LNG)/fuel oil ship. LNG (LNG) / fuel oil dual-fuel propulsion system, and for the first time equipped with battery systems, axle generators, while the use of energy-saving devices, drag reduction anti-fouling paint and other types of energy-saving measures, up to 7,000 cars can be loaded. Compared with the previous Ro-Ro vessels, the new vessel will have a much larger loading capacity.
