Zero Emission, Low Noise First New Energy Ferry Boat Sets Sail in Shanghai
With zero emissions, low noise and a 360-degree view of the river, the Shanghai Ferry family has a new member. Yesterday, China's first new energy ferry vessel "Shanghai Ferry 11" set sail at the Lujiabang Road terminal on the South Land Line, and is scheduled to undergo a two-month pressure test and no-load trial run on the Tangdong Line. Before the end of the year, it will be officially put into operation in the city center area.
The appearance of the "Shanghai Ferry 11" and the current use of passenger ferries do not seem to be significantly different, into the cabin is a different world. On the first floor of the cabin, around the "100 years of ferry events" and "red mark" two themes, with text, pictures, physical exhibits, showing the history of the ferry and the city's change. When you come to the second floor along the stairs, you seem to be in a small cruise ship.
The cabins are equipped with soft seats and charging ports. The top floor is designed as a glass skylight, surrounded by glass curtain walls, making the whole space brighter and more transparent. Unlike previous ferries that only have a viewing platform at the stern, "Shanghai Ferry 11" is designed with a circular walkway, which is unobstructed and offers a panoramic view of the scenery.
"'Shanghai Ferry 11' is China's first new energy battery-powered passenger ferry, which adopts an advanced pure electric power system that can meet the electricity demand for 10 hours without generating exhaust gas, waste water and noise pollution." Yang Yongchang, assistant general manager and manager of digital operation center of Shanghai Ferry Co. The whole ship has also introduced information technology system, intelligent ship system, digital twin system and environmental detection system to realize real-time monitoring of the whole ship's status, which comprehensively improves the safety, controllability and intelligence of navigation.
Shanghai ferries have a history of 100 years. In the 1980s and 1990s, the city's ferry operation reached its peak, with more than a hundred ships of various types of operation at the most, with an average daily passenger flow of one million passengers, and the passenger volume reached an all-time high of 383 million in 1988, leaving a spectacular scene of one million citizens crossing the Pujiang River.
Not only passenger transportation, due to the bridge, tunnel is not perfect, the car ferry route has become the first choice of cross-strait cargo transportation, the peak waiting fleet can stretch for five or six kilometers. Subsequently, with the gradual completion of the bridge, tunnel, the last three car ferry routes in 2006 to 2007 were closed down, to complete the historical mission.
"Ferries are moving forward step by step. When I was a child, we took a steamer at the 16th floor pier, burning coal, which could seat two to three hundred people. Later, the ferry capacity developed from 500 passengers to 1,400 passengers, and this time, it also used a new energy power system, which was smooth to sit on and did not smell of oil." Cao Qimin was the former Shanghai Ferry Co., Ltd. 76 Shanghai Hangkai engine captain, this time invited to come to test ride, the mood is very excited.
At present, in the north from Wusongkou, south to Minhang 80 kilometers on the Huangpu River, Shanghai Ferry has a total of 17 routes, 34 operating vessels. Among them, 22 are the "World Blog Ferry" ferries put into use during the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, and 6 are the new "Shanghai Ferry" series ferries newly built in 2017 along with the opening of the Huangpu River Riverside Public Space. The addition of the new member "Shanghai Ferry 11" marks a new stage in the green development of Shanghai ferries.
