The world's largest and most environmentally friendly car transporter made its maiden voyage from Shanghai to the sea.
The reporter learned from the Shanghai border control authorities that at 3:00 on August 9, 2024, the Norwegian car ro-ro ship "Reynolds Aurora" berthed at Shanghai Nangang Terminal. The ship will leave for Japan after refueling with LNG fuel during berthing at Nangang Terminal to start its international voyage.
At around 6:00pm on August 8, the newly-built "Linuo Aurora" sailed away from Haimen Yangtze River Terminal in Nantong, Jiangsu Province, marking its successful delivery.
"Linuo Aurora" is currently the world's largest and most environmentally friendly car carrier. In terms of vessel size, the ship is 199.9 meters long, 196.4 meters in length, 37.6 meters in width, 14.53 meters in depth, 9.35 meters in design draught, with a carrying capacity of 9,100 cars, and has an enhanced deck and an internal ramp system that allows it to load cars on 14 decks.
The ship is also equipped with 1,500 square meters of solar panels, which can save 30%~35% of the electricity produced by the motors. It is equipped with one low-speed dual-fuel main engine and three dual-fuel generators, which can be used with both LNG and conventional fuels, as well as the "ammonia ready" and "methanol ready" classification symbols of DNV. It also has the classification symbols of "ammonia fuel ready" and "methanol fuel ready" of DNV, which is the first ship in the field of car carriers that can use carbon-neutral fuel.
According to Shanghai Border Inspection General Station Yangshan Border Inspection Station, the ship is mainly engaged in European routes, traveling to and from East Asia and Europe and other major automobile manufacturing and consuming countries. At 13:30 on the same day, LNG refueling ship "Harbor Future" ship docked "Lino Aurora" ship to start the implementation of fuel replenishment operations, which is also the "Harbor Future" LNG refueling ship This is also the first time that "Harbor Future" LNG refueling ship left Yangshan waters to refuel energy for international vessels docking at Nangang Terminal, and it is expected that it will refuel 1,800 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas for "Lino Aurora" during the period of Hong Kong.
Yangshan Border Inspection Station issued a permit for the vessel "Harbor Future" in advance to further compress the time of the two vessels in Hong Kong and enhance the operational efficiency.
