Guangzhou Port and Port of Long Beach Conclude Friendship Port Agreement
On August 8, Guangzhou Port and Port of Long Beach formally signed the Friendship Port Cooperation Agreement. The number of friendly ports of Guangzhou Port reached 60, ranking the first in China. Guangzhou Vice Mayor Lai Zhihong witnessed the signing.
Lai Zhihong said, at present, Guangzhou is giving full play to its leading role as a comprehensive gateway city, comprehensively enhancing the function of international trade center and comprehensive transportation hub, vigorously promoting the construction of international shipping hub, and creating a new and colorful central world city.
Looking forward to the Port of Guangzhou and the Port of Long Beach continue to strengthen communication, deepen exchanges and cooperation, and work together to create a better future for the shipping industry.
Sun Xiucheng, party secretary, director and first-class inspector of the Municipal Port Authority, said that the Port of Guangzhou is the largest comprehensive main hub port in South China, the largest grain transshipment port, an important automobile hub port, and a hub port for African and Southeast Asian routes.
It is hoped that the two sides will further strengthen international trade exchanges, promote regional cooperation, and smooth the trade and exchange channels between China and the United States. Long Beach Port Authority Board of Governors Sharon Wiseman, Port of Long Beach Chief Operating Officer Noel Hasegaba, respectively, said they look forward to working with the Port of Guangzhou to contribute to the sustainable development of the global port industry.
According to the agreement, the two sides will focus on the opening of routes, investment promotion, green environmental protection and clean energy and other areas of cooperation. Huang Bo, General Manager of Guangzhou Port Group, attended the signing activity and witnessed the signing.
