Traffic disrupted and operations halted as storms hit Europe's major ports!

Sea traffic has all but stopped at both Valencia and Sagunto, Spain's largest container ports, as a result of the storm.

The Valencia region is understood to be struggling to cope with the storm, with road traffic currently closed, railways flooded and ports unable to operate. The Emergency Coordination Centre has issued a red alert for the Valencia coast and its northern inland areas.

Spanish railway company Adif reported that trains between Tavernes de la Valldigna and Cullera have been disrupted.

The incident is also affecting services at the Valencia suburban junction between Valencia North and Xeraco, where alternative bus services are running between Tavernes and Cullera. In road traffic, the A-7 is blocked in the Alzira area, as is the A-3 through Chiva; other closures include the CV-541 between Alberic and Tous, the CV-550 in Massalaves, and the CV-557 on the A-7 to Gavarda and Antella; and the CV-557 on the A-7 to Gavarda and Antella. 557.

In the Costera area , CV-645 is cut off as it passes through Xativa; in Vall d'Albaida, CV-612 in Bellus and in Plana Alta, from CV-148 to CV-159.

As of 15:00 local time on 30 October, the Spanish government confirmed that the death toll in the country's autonomous community of Valencia has risen to 70 as a result of the current round of stormy weather.

  Hapag-Lloyd issued a delay warning!

Meanwhile, severe storms in the Valencia region have led to serious disruptions in shipping and logistics, prompting major shipping companies to issue warnings.

Hapag-Lloyd, Germany's leading container shipping company, issued a notice stating, ‘Due to the recent heavy rains in south-east Spain, our shipping programme is now facing unavoidable disruptions.’

‘The extreme weather conditions have impacted road safety and temporarily reduced the number of available transport routes in the region.’

Hapag-Lloyd said they are actively seeking alternative routes to mitigate the impact of these disruptions. Meanwhile, the shipping company also added that some delays may continue to occur until the situation improves.
