Qinzhou Port Terminal Leads the Way in Deploying 5G Customised Networks Across the Beibu Gulf Port
Against the backdrop of accelerated development of the Western Land-Sea New Channel, the second phase of the 5G data backhaul project for the gantry crane system at Qinzhou Port Co., Ltd. in the Beibu Gulf Port has achieved full network coverage. This marks Qinzhou Port as the first in the Beibu Gulf Port to fully deploy a 5G customised network, providing replicable practical experience for regional industrial digital transformation and activating a new engine for the development of the Western Land-Sea New Channel.
The project has evolved from the first phase to the second phase, achieving comprehensive coverage across all scenarios. In the first phase, China Telecom Qinzhou Port Branch (hereinafter referred to as ‘Qinzhou Port Telecom’) innovatively adopted the 5G customised network ‘neighbouring’ model to precisely address the challenges of network deployment in complex environments, efficiently completing real-time transmission of high-definition video surveillance and crane CMS data. This fully validated the immense potential and core value of 5G technology in enhancing port intelligence levels.
The implementation of the second phase project will fully extend the proven experience to all gantry crane systems at Qinzhou Port, establishing a comprehensive 5G customised network support system. This not only significantly enhances the intelligence level of production scheduling and on-site operational efficiency but also provides robust support for cost reduction and efficiency improvement in port operations.
Deepening the integration of ‘5G+Smart Port’ applications to accelerate digital transformation. This year, Qinzhou Port Telecom has seized the development opportunities presented by the ‘digital port’ initiative, continuously promoting the innovative application of ‘5G+industrial internet’ technology in port scenarios. The successful construction and efficient operation of the first and second phase 5G backhaul projects have established a benchmark model for ‘5G+smart port’ in the Beibu Gulf region. The comprehensive coverage construction experience and solutions formed have provided replicable practical experience for the digital transformation of the Beibu Gulf port industry.
Huang Chen, General Manager of Qinzhou Port Telecom, stated that the company will continue to focus on the core strategy of ‘5G + platform + computing power + applications’ to deepen the construction and application innovation of digital infrastructure, accelerate the integration and penetration of 5G technology into various core port operations, and support the continuous upgrading and iteration of smart port construction in the Beibu Gulf, continuously contributing ‘Qinzhou wisdom’ and cutting-edge solutions to shape a new vision for China's smart ports.
