Total investment exceeds 700 million yuan! Pingdingshan Port in Henan commences operations
On 5 November, Pingdingshan Port in Henan officially commenced operations, marking the full navigation of the 261-kilometre main channel of the Shaying River within Henan's borders. Pingdingshan thus becomes Henan's fourth city with operational freight navigation, following Zhoukou, Xinyang and Luohe. This development will significantly advance the construction of convenient maritime access routes for central Henan and substantially enhance the radiating and driving role of inland waterway transport in the province's economic and social development.
As a pivotal hub within Henan's inland waterway network and a core multimodal transport node for southwestern Henan, the port's inauguration has unlocked a golden waterway for central and western Henan. This development advances the integrated growth of port, shipping, urban infrastructure, logistics, trade and industry, while reducing societal logistics costs. It represents a key measure in implementing the national strategy for strengthening transportation and refining the province's comprehensive transport system.
With a total investment of 705 million yuan, Pingdingshan Port features 11 berths planned across its northern and southern zones, boasting an annual throughput capacity of 4.35 million tonnes. Henan Communications Investment Group, mindful of its mission as the main force in building a ‘Transportation Power Province’, has efficiently advanced all preparatory work for the port's opening. Currently, the port's infrastructure construction is fully completed with functional facilities in place; trial navigation tests have been successfully concluded, verifying its operational capability; cargo sourcing is being organised with precision and efficiency, and the water transport logistics system has taken initial shape.
